ARCHIVE: Back on air

In case you missed it, I had my first story air on CBC radio on August 5. It was a fun piece about a lady who is selling her house in Calgary’s Beltline neighbourhood. This is kind of like an Up situation but also not really. She’s not being forced to move by developers but it is a little house nestled among high-rise apartments and it has unique zoning that could allow a buyer to demolish the house and then build condos in that lot. Honestly, that would be a huge shame because the house is beautiful. I especially like the kitchen.

I told the lady, Beverley, that this was my first story on CBC. She was very excited to hear that. She told me a story about how she was working with a lawyer and when the lawyer drove her home, he was a little shocked. Turns out an earlier transaction of this house was his first case as a lawyer.

Anyway, the last time anyone heard my voice on the airwaves was back in 2013. I believe that story was about a visit to the Maskwacis Nation for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearing. I thought I left all of the on-air stuff behind when I moved to Global News to be a producer. We know how that turned out. But as some of my friends said perhaps it was all a blessing in disguise. It was a long wait but perhaps they were right. It’s now been one year since everything ended at Global and I’m hearing my name and my story on CBC Radio. This was my first on radio and I am sure there will be more to come.
